Talk

Talk is the second pillar — expanding the mental body. This is not small talk or networking. It’s deep reflection and genuine connection. Asking questions that matter and sharing your unique perspective of the reality we all share.

Solo Conversations

Traveling solo doesn’t mean traveling without conversation.

  • Self-recording: Use voice prompts and questions to reflect out loud. Record your thoughts as you walk — the movement unlocks different thinking than sitting with a journal.
  • Locals and strangers: Some of the deepest conversations on a pilgrimage happen with people you meet along the way. Be open to organic connection.
  • Pilgrim app: GPS route tracking, voice-prompted questions drawn from the curated question bank, and Whisper transcription for later reflection.

Group Conversations

In a group, talk takes two forms:

Daytime: Side-by-Side

While walking, conversations happen naturally in pairs or small clusters. The side-by-side format removes the pressure of eye contact and lets dialogue flow with the rhythm of walking. Partners rotate throughout the day so everyone connects.

Evening: Jeffersonian Discussions

After the day’s walk, the group gathers for a single-topic evening discussion — Jeffersonian style. One topic, one conversation, everyone participates.

  • A moderator selects or proposes the topic (often from the evening questions)
  • Everyone contributes — no side conversations
  • The goal is depth, not breadth
  • One hour is usually enough

The Power of Questions

The right question can unlock an hour of meaningful reflection or a conversation that changes how you see the world.

We’ve curated 65 questions organized by context: walking side-by-side, evening group discussions, solo reflection, and morning meditation seeds. Each is designed to invite depth — not generic icebreakers, but prompts worthy of a pilgrimage.
